At the "Children of the KIng" St. Louis convention in 1941, over 1300 children were baptized. Some were as young as six years of age.

I just met someone who was baptized as a child at this convention. She was 10 years old. She remembers all the children being gathered in front of the stage and being asked if they'd like to be baptized. She told me she said to herself "I don't know! I haven't made up my mind yet". However, she did get baptized because it wasn't an option not to. She was just herded along with all the others and baptized against her will. Now in her 80's, she is still suffering the fallout from this.

so i studied with this guy who is now an elder in my moms hall.

she has cancer and is black and blue from it.

we are like real family so i invite him over for drinks and pizza.

Every business knows it costs many times more to attract new customers than to retain existing ones. I'm surprised Watchtower doesn't encourage this.

the above is a quote from a jw female relative.

this was in response to a discussion about the suffragette movement ( and the movie about it that's currently in cinemas).

she seemed to think that it would be so much better if women were just daughters/ wives/ mothers and didn't go out to work and have career's?

I don't know about "most" but I'm sure there are a lot of women that would prefer not to have to work outside the house. Especially if there are children involved. Personally, I know more than a few women who did just that. Quit their jobs to raise a family.

Nerd in the brain, I think people are just trying to warn you not to be deceived. You won't see the dark side of this organization unless you become a member. Until then, you're just a recruitment target. Jehovah's Witnesses don't have friends outside the organization. They won't even be friends with those considered spiritually weak within the congregation. I know you don't want to believe this but sadly it's true. Fortunately, as long as you don't get baptized you'll continue to be treated like a queen.

a new montra that was recently adopted by the wife and i is this:.

dont give them more power than they deserve.. here's why i say that, and i point this to those of you still in the congregation, still trying to decide what you want to do.. recently, our family had a little family reunion gathering of sorts, and we were in the company of some extended family that were either df or da, to varying degrees.

we made it very clear, to any and all in attendance, that we wanted to be respectful and kind, despite any previous perceptions about our "status".... and that our feelings on a lot of things had "softened", and "changed" over the last 2 years.. i am being purposefully slightly vague, but i think you get the point.

Also, I agree with the title of his thread. However, regarding evolution, creation, etc., Either I don't have enough knowledge or I'm not smart enough to know what the truth is. I don't have firm convictions in those areas. I like to read what other people believe.

Cofty, no offense intended to you or anyone. I just noticed that isw1961 joined the forum 10 days ago and didn't want him to get discouraged from posting his views. Not everyone has thick skin. A lot of people are sensitive and it takes courage for them to share their beliefs; even on an internet forum.

Isw1961, I really don't know what I believe but I do think your initial statement is true. That Jehovah's Witnesses message is becoming more relevant. For me there's not enough information, or maybe I'm just not smart enough, to come to any conclusions or have a conviction about what the ultimate truth will turn out to be.

I just want to say that I truly admire people who say what they believe even though some people ridicule them.

Isw1961, I also think the kingdom message is relevant. The message is basically that we need a different form of government to solve the worlds problems. I think that's true. I mean I look around the world today and in my opinion, the standard of living of each country directly dependent on the form of government they have and the level of corruption there is at the top.

But even though it's relevant, do you think it's true? Do you think Jehovah's Witnesses are God's organization?
